Konree Innovation, an exciting aquatech start-up, is making waves in the fish farming industry with its groundbreaking technology to detect and eliminate L. salmonis in salmon pens.
Founded by Dr. Margaret Rae, Konree Innovation took part in the prestigious Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) innovation studio in 2020 in partnership with aquaculture accelerator Hatch Blue and received significant backing from Enterprise Ireland’s pre-seed start fund in 2023, setting the stage for their current success.
Dr. Rae announced that the company is currently pitching for a €1 million investment round through the Halo Business Angel network and venture capital funds. Additionally, they are seeking support from the Enterprise Ireland high-potential start-up fund to further their mission.L. salmonis, small naturally occurring parasites, pose a significant challenge to the global salmon production industry, costing an estimated €3 billion to €4 billion annually. Konree Innovation’s solution offers a sustainable, non-polluting technology that requires no special infrastructure, making it a game-changer for salmon farmers worldwide.
