Showcasing Entrepreneurial Excellence and Innovation in the North-West

Konree Innovation’s CEO, Margaret Rae, was at the recent EnterpRISING23 event, where she shared her insights on innovation and growth in the aquaculture sector. The event, hosted by WestBIC and Enterprise Ireland in Sligo, brought together leading entrepreneurs, business owners, and industry experts to discuss strategies for scaling businesses and navigating the entrepreneurial journey. Under Rae’s leadership, the Galway-based start-up is developing groundbreaking technology aimed at eliminating L. salmonis sea lice in salmon farming—an issue that costs the global salmon industry billions annually. Her vision and leadership have positioned Konree Innovation as a leading force in sustainable aquaculture solutions.

Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation, Dara Calleary T.D., emphasized the growing reputation of the West of Ireland as a thriving hub for business innovation. He encouraged business owners and entrepreneurs to explore the wide range of supports available through Enterprise Ireland and the Local Enterprise network, designed to help businesses at all stages of growth.

EnterpRISING23 provided a platform for SMEs and start-ups from the North-West region to learn about available supports and opportunities for growth. A packed room of delegates benefited from expert advice on crucial topics like securing investment, strategic networking, and effectively communicating a brand’s vision.

The event also featured insights from other prominent entrepreneurs and companies, including David McIntyre of Cubbie, Ruairi Dooley of BiaSol, and Fergal O’Connor of BuyMedia, alongside members of Enterprise Ireland’s start-up and investment teams.
